Check Point three-tier architecture (gateway, management, SmartConsole), deployment options, GAiA OS installation and initial configuration, license management and contract verification.
Rule base structure and order, policy packages, implicit and explicit rules, App Control and URL Filtering basics, policy installation and verification using SmartConsole.
Hide NAT and Static NAT, automatic vs. manual NAT rules, port translation, NAT rule ordering, troubleshooting NAT with SmartView Tracker and fw monitor.
Identity Awareness blade, AD Query and Browser-Based Authentication, Captive Portal, user-based policy rules, integration with Active Directory via LDAP.
VPN concepts and IKE phases, domain-based vs. route-based VPN, Check Point VPN communities, certificate and pre-shared key authentication, VPN troubleshooting.
Check Point Remote Access VPN (Endpoint Security / Capsule Connect), SSL VPN, client configuration, split tunnelling, Mobile Access blade overview.
IPS blade configuration and profiles, Anti-Virus and Anti-Bot blades, Threat Emulation overview, security profile tuning, false-positive management and exception handling.
SmartView Monitor and SmartEvent basics, log management and retention, system status checks, backup and restore, CCSA R82 exam question walkthrough and mock test.

Frequently Asked Questions
The course is aligned to Check Point R82, the current GA release. All labs use R82 GAiA OS. Concepts are also applicable to R81.20 for students with existing deployments on that version.
Yes. CCSA is a prerequisite for CCSE. It establishes the core administration skills that CCSE builds on. Students with existing Check Point admin experience may be able to go directly to CCSE — contact us to assess your background.
Yes. Each student gets access to a dedicated Check Point lab environment for the duration of the batch, including a Security Gateway and SmartConsole management server for hands-on configuration exercises.
